Testing for scaling behavior dependence on geometrical and fluid parameters in the two fluid drop snap-off problem

چکیده
We present experimental results on the snap-off dynamics of a drop with viscosity lh dripping through a fluid of viscosity h. This paper focuses on the Stokes regime where both the inner and outer fluid viscous stresses are balanced by the pressure gradients arising from the interfacial curvature. We track the time dependence of the drop profiles near snap-off and find that successive profiles can be rescaled onto a single curve. We explore the dependence of this scaling on the nozzle diameter, surface tension, density mismatch, and viscosity ratio l. We find that only l affects the rescaled profile. Finally we investigate the dependence of the breaking rate on l. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1409369#

Two Fluid Drop Snap-Off Problem: Experiments and Theory
We address the dynamics of a drop with viscosity lh breaking up inside another fluid of viscosity h. We track the time evolution of the drop near snap-off in the experiments and then compare with a scaling theory developed for l 1. The theory is in excellent agreement with both the experiments and the previous simulations of Lister and Stone. Finally, we also investigate the l dependence of the...

This paper tends to investigate the performance of a separator cyclone used in cement industries in Iran. This investigation was performed using CFD modeling, which is validated by other valid studies. Separator cyclone performance includes of two important parameters as pressure drop and collection ratio. In this presented study, the pressure drop has been considered to assess the performance ...
متن کاملCFD Simulation of Gas-Solid Two-Phase Flow in Pneumatic Conveying of Wheat
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of gas-solid flow through a positive low-pressure pneumatic conveyor were performed using Eulerian-Eulerian framework. Pressure drop in pneumatic conveying pipelines, creation and destruction of plugs along the horizontal and vertical pipes, effect of 90° elbows and U-bends on cross-section concentrations, and rope formation and dispersion were...

The main objective of this research is stability determination of activated carbon adsorbent at fixed bed adsorption column for desulfurization of diesel fuel by mathematical modeling. This model is based on mass balances. Equations that are the outcome of mass balances are known as the second degree of partial differential equations, and they must be solved together simultaneously...
